SUMMARY:Persistence is the name of the academic game
DESCRIPTION:\nJoin us on August 25th for the 15th IMS international Seminar Series hosting Dr. Jennifer Lissemore “Persistence is the name of the academic game”\nRSVP for a 25$ UBER eat gift card:\nhttps://ims-international-seminar-series-15.eventbrite.ca ( https://ims-international-seminar-series-15.eventbrite.ca )\nmeeting link:\nhttps://utoronto.zoom.us/j/85986395375 ( https://utoronto.zoom.us/j/85986395375 )\nJen completed her BSc and MSc studying psychology and neuroscience at McGill University in Montreal. Her research at McGill spanned rodent behavioral neuroscience and human neuroimaging. She then completed her PhD in the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto. Her PhD focused on using non-invasive human neurophysiology techniques (TMS-electromyography and TMS-electroencephalography/EEG) to study the neuropathology and treatment of depression across the lifespan. Jen has since joined the Brain Stimulation Lab at Stanford University in California as a postdoctoral researcher, and is excited to be investigating how new brain stimulation protocols may improve the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and how biological measures of brain functioning could help to refine and personalize these treatments for OCD. Ultimately, Jen’s mission in neuropsychiatric research is to advance how well we understand and treat disorders of ‘stopping’. During this talk, she will discuss lessons learned from her journey so far in academia across three universities with different academic cultures.\n
